The first leg of the semi-finals will take place on the 22-23 April,while the second leg will take place a week later 29-30 April.

Wrestling Legend Dead.

Days after his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame and a return to the company after an 18-year breakup, Wrestling legend, The Ultimate Warrior is dead.

According to a statement posted on the WWE website, the late wrestling superstar was 54.

The news, posted late Tuesday night, led to a flood of tributes from fans and WWE performers and officials and comes on the day the WWE released a DVD in Warrior’s honor.

In the statement, the company said, “WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior.
“We are grateful just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans. WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans.”

Warrior was known for his energetic style, sprinting down the aisle to the ring; violent shaking of the ropes to psych himself up; and unique interview style that often left fans unsure of his message.

Warrior was born James Hellwig, but legally changed his name to Warrior in 1993. He is survived by his wife Dana and daughters Indiana and Mattigan, who had accompanied him to the podium at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony Saturday night in New Orleans.

In his final public appearance Monday night, Warrior donned the long jacket with his image airbrushed on the back, similar to what he wore during his wrestling days, and put on a mask that looked like his trademark face paint. It was his first appearance on Raw since 1996.

“No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own,” he told the crowd. “Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something that’s larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers — by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him, and make the running the man did live forever.

“I am the Ultimate Warrior, you are the Ultimate Warrior fans and the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior will run forever.”

Warrior began his wrestling career as part of a group of bodybuilders-turned-wrestlers in Southern California. His early career was marked by his work in a tag team known as the Blade Runners with Steve Borden, who would later become Sting. Warrior was known as Blade Runner Rock and Borden as Blade Runner Flash.

His use of the Warrior name came in the Texas-based World Class Championship Wrestling where he worked as the Dingo Warrior and was billed as being from Queens, N.Y.

Warrior came to the then-WWF in 1987 and was re-branded as The Ultimate Warrior. He won his first Intercontinental title from the Honky Tonk Man in a match that lasted less than a minute at the first Summer Slam in 1988. He would lose the title to Ravishing Rick Rude and then regain it at Sumer Slam in 1989.

He was still the champion leading into the main event match at WrestleMania in Toronto in 1990, which might be the highlight of his career. The bout against Hulk Hogan was for Hogan’s WWF title and Warrior’s Intercontinental title.

Warrior won the match and was embraced and presented with the WWE title belt by Hogan afterward, in a passing of the torch from the biggest star of the 1980s to one of the biggest stars of the 1990s.

“We are all so sad that the Ultimate Warrior has passed away,” WWE chairman Vince McMahon tweeted.

Nigerian reality show star and musician, Timi Dakolo also tweeted: “RIP Ultimate Warrior, my favourite wrestler.I remember wrestling Mania VI when you defeated Hulk Hogan. One of my joyous moments.”

Warrior would leave the WWE twice and then return before an ill-fated and brief stint in World Championship Wrestling in the late 1990s.

After retirement, he worked as a motivational speaker.

Jamaican Dancehall Star Vybz Kartel Sentenced To Life In Prison

The Jamaican dancehall star has been sentenced to life in prison, with no chance of parole until he serves 35 years.
In mid-March, Vybz (born Adidja Azim Palmer), was found guilty in the August 2011 murder of promoter Clive “Lizard” Williams.
The 38-year-old has remained behind bars for almost three years while awaiting trial, and after 65 days in court, a jury eventually voted 10-1 to convict Kartel and three other men on guilty charges. Prosecutors set out to prove that Williams was beaten to death in Kartel’s home, over two missing guns.
On Thursday (April 3) The Jamaica Gleaner reported that Vybz, Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St. John were all sentenced to life in prison, with varying levels of eligibility for parole.
Both Campbell and Jones are eligible for parole in 25 years, while St. John will have to serve 30, and Vybz 35.

UEFA Champions League Quater Final Draw

Manchester United have been drawn against Bayern Munich while Chelsea will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals.

David Moyes' side produced an impressive, and crucial, 3-0 win over Olympiakos in their last-16 second leg on Wednesday and have been rewarded with a two-legged tie with the holders.

The first leg will be held at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Chelsea travel to Parc des Princes to face Ligue 1 champions PSG before the return leg at Stamford Bridge.

Iledare Oluwajuwonlo James aka Jaywon has written a letter via his lawyer requesting for his contract with Kennis Music to be terminated.

JAYWON wrote,in the same letter, his readiness and willingness to pay off all costs therein accordingly.                                
Meanwhile, Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria IBAN MEMBERS and all broadcasters on all platforms are hereby advised to Un-list the works  (Either single performances or and collaborations) of Iledare Oluwajuwonlo James aka Jaywon from their respective rotational play lists until his (Jaywon) request to buy over his contract is fully completed to avoid litigation.

President Jonathan suspends CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido

According to the official state house press release:

Having taken special notice of reports of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and other investigating bodies, which indicate clearly that Mallam Sanusi Lamido  Sanusi’s tenure has been characterized by various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct which are inconsistent with the administration’s vision of a Central Bank propelled by the core values of focused economic management, prudence, transparency and financial discipline;

Being also deeply concerned about far-reaching irregularities  under Mallam Sanusi’s watch which have distracted the Central Bank away from the pursuit and achievement of its statutory mandate; and

Being determined to urgently re-position the Central Bank of Nigeria for greater efficiency, respect for due process and accountability, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has ordered the immediate suspension of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from the Office of Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

President Jonathan has further ordered that Mallam Sanusi should hand over to the most senior Deputy Governor of the CBN, Dr Sarah Alade who will serve as Acting Governor until the conclusion of on-going investigations into breaches of enabling laws, due process and mandate of  the CBN.

  The President expects that as Acting Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Alade will focus on the core mandate of the Bank and conduct its affairs with greater professionalism, prudence and propriety to restore domestic and international confidence in the country’s apex bank.

The Federal Government of Nigeria reassures all stakeholders in Nigeria’s financial and monetary system that this decision has been taken in absolute good faith, in the overall interest of the Nigerian economy and in accordance with our laws and due process. 

New CBN Governor

According to an earlier report by THISDAY

President Goodluck Jonathan has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, to resign immediately on the grounds that the letter Sanusi wrote to him on the unremitted $49.8 billion oil revenue to the Federation Account, was leaked to former President Olusegun Obasanjo by the CBN governor.

But Sanusi who has denied leaking the letter to anyone, has refused to resign and informed the president during the heated telephone exchange that he could only be removed by two-thirds of the Senate as required by law.

 THISDAY learnt that the president had called Sanusi and accused him of leaking the letter to Obasanjo, which enabled the latter to use it as one of many allegations he levelled against Jonathan in his letter titled:

“Before It is Too Late”.

The president, who a source in the presidency said was very angry and was not prepared to allow Sanusi to proceed on his terminal leave in March, asked him to tender his resignation before the close of business last TuesdayHowever, Sanusi denied that he had leaked his letter to Obasanjo and made it abundantly clear he would not be forced out, except he is removed by two-thirds of the Senate.

Skales officially parts ways with EME

We all saw this coming right? Skales has parted ways with EME records .His contract expired and they decided not to renew his contract because it wasn't profitable any more. They have spent alot on him though the years and haven't recouped their investment .All traces of EME has been deleted from his social media accounts .Though unsigned, he is with M.et.tal management.

Katy Perry Hits 50 Million Twitter Followers

Everyone's favorite songbird, Katy Perry, hit a major milestone today, now counting more than 50 million followers on Twitter in total.

Perry dethroned teen heartthrob Justin Bieber in early November to snag the social network’s top spot. Previously, she overtook Lady Gaga in July, relegating the one-time queen of Twitter to the third-largest artist on the social network at more than 41 million followers.

Other high­-ranking artists on Twitter include Britney Spears at 35 million, Rihanna at 34 million and Justin Timberlake at a little more than 30 million in total. (Oh, and the President of the United States, of course, but despite his 41 million followers, we won't rank him until he releases an album.)

In fact, music remains the most-discussed topic on all of Twitter, with more than 1 billion tweets sent about music in 2013. 100 million of those coming from music-related accounts, and 50% of all active Twitter users follow at least one music account. Users from all over the world used music services to send over 40 million tweets about songs to which they've listened.

Perry, who added more than 18 million new followers in 2013 making her the top follower-earning artist on Twitter last year, shows no signs of stopping. Actively communicating with fans through the network, she orchestrated several social campaigns on the network, promoting the release of newest album "PRISM." Among them was a promise to retweet any fan that posted a pic of the golden truck she used to announce the release date of "PRISM."

And it's not like she's tweeting into a void; Perry counts more than 660,000 mentions in the past month, and close to 350,000 retweets. So congratulations Katy. We're definitely going to hear you roar -- er, tweet.

Grammy Awards 2014 Winners List

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Daft Punk were the biggest winners of the night and took home five Grammy's including Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis also grapes, winning four Grammy's including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album.

Official: Juan Mata completes £37.1m Manchester United move

Chelsea to Manchester United in a record transfer deal for the reigning Premier League champions.
The Spain midfielder had a medical on Saturday and has signed a contract, understood to run until summer 2018.
Mata, 25, is likely to make his debut at home against Cardiff on Tuesday.

"The time has come for a new challenge," he said. "I am excited at the chance I have to be part of the next phase in the club's history."
He added: "Chelsea is a top club and I have many friends there but you cannot turn down the chance to join Manchester United. I look forward to helping the manager and the team be successful in the coming years."
Mata, capped 32 times by Spain, will be unveiled at a news conference on Monday at 13:30 GMT.
He becomes manager David Moyes's second high-profile signing, following the arrival in September of Everton's Marouane Fellaini for £27.5m.
The deal also eclipses United's previous record signing - Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham in 2008 - by £6.35m.
Mata, who joined Chelsea from Valencia for £23.5m in August 2011, has been Chelsea's player of the year in both full seasons he was at Stamford Bridge.
He scored 32 goals for the Blues and made more than 130 appearances but has failed to command a regular starting place under Jose Mourinho, who returned to Chelsea last summer for a second spell as manager.
"Juan is one of the finest playmakers in the game today and it's a real pleasure to have secured his signature," said Moyes.

"He's been instrumental in Chelsea's recent success, with a notable 28 assists and 32 goals in his last two Premier League seasons.
"I have been impressed with the excitement he has shown to be part of the new Manchester United.
"I know our fans have admired Juan for some time now - he has always played well against us - and I know they will be delighted to see him in the red of United, starting on Tuesday."
Mourinho praised Mata's contribution at Stamford Bridge, having helped Chelsea to win the Champions League, FA Cup and Europa League.
"I and everyone at Chelsea have massive respect for Juan and his big talent, and when he told us of his wish to move on because he wanted to play more, we did not want to deny him this opportunity," said the Portuguese.
'We want him to be successful in his career and as well as that, this transfer makes huge financial sense to us at Chelsea.
'We are pleased Juan will stay in England - even with a rival club. He is happy in this country and it is good the Premier League retains such a talented player.
"Juan moves with our full blessing and I can speak on behalf of everyone at the club in thanking him for his fantastic service, and wishing him well for his future."

Lagos State University Shuts Down Indefinitely

The management of  Lagos State University (LASU) has closed down the state-owned university indefinitely following what it termed ‘violent protest by the students”.

This decision was contained in a bulletin, dated 23rd January, 2013, titled LASU management Closes University indefinitely.

The statement reads:

“In the wake of the violent protest by some affected students of Lagos State University
(LASU) over the closure of the university portal for registration of courses for rain semester 2012/2013 examination, the university management has decided to shut down the university indefinitely. Also, examinations have been put off till further notice.

With this decision, students are expected to vacate the university premises until further notice”.

Sandro Rosell resigns as president of Barcelona

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has tendered his resignation and hit out at "personal attacks" against him and his family following the opening of an investigation into Neymar's transfer to Camp Nou.

Rosell and Barca are currently under the scrutiny of the Spanish High Court over an alleged misappropriation of funds following the transfer of Neymar from Santos last summer.
The Liga champions bought the Brazil star for a fee of €57.1 million in May of last year, but only €17.1m of that went to Peixe, with third-party owners originally believed to have claimed the rest.

However, supermarket chain DIS say they never received their share and the Catalans have since admitted paying the €40m to the company co-owned by Neymar and his father, N&N.

Blaugrana vice-presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Javier Faus met with Rosell at his home on Thursday morning and joined the Barca president at a meeting this evening, along with deputy president Joanjo Castillo, general director Antoni Rossich and communications director Albert Montagut.

But the reunion will be merely to discuss plans for the future, with the 49-year-old's mind made up following the release of a statement in which Rosell once again declares his innocence.

He said: "Me and my family for some time have suffered attacks that make me wonder if it's worth being president. "In recent days there have been unfair criticisms against me, coming from the national courts. I insist that everything that happened in the transfer of Neymar was correct.

"The club has always got to have an image that defends the club, there is confidentiality we have to expect, it's important.

"If we don't accept confidentiality it is damaging to the club. We don't want unfair publicity to affect the image of the club."

Rosell then reflected on his time at the club and said he was proud of the achievements of Barca during his reign.

"We've won the Champions League, two league titles, the other sports teams have also won a number of different trophies at home and abroad to show our power as a worldwide entity. "If you think back to Ronaldinho's goal in Paris, [Lionel] Messi's goals, what happened in Rome, in London.

"We've reduced the debt and regained assets.

"We have the pride of knowing some of the best players in the world play for Barca."

The president, whose current mandate runs until 2016, took charge at Camp Nou in 2010. He will be replaced by Bartomeu until the next elections.

falBreaking News ; Falcao to miss World Cup

Monaco striker Radamel Falcao will miss the World Cup after it was confirmed on Thursday that he had torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

The Colombian will be sidelined for at least six months of action with the knee injury, which occured during Wednesday's Coupe de France encounter against Chasselay, Porto doctor Jose Carlos Noronha said.

The striker had flown to Portugal in the aftermath of the fixture at Stade Gerland, having picked up the injury following a heavy tackle from one of the amateur side’s defenders shortly before half-time.

After being carried off on a stretcher, concerns were expressed over the severity of the injury and the fears of the player, club and country were confirmed by Noronha, who described the injury as "a serious tear" and suggested the attacker could be absent for up to eight months.

Monaco released a statement saying: "Following the injury suffered on Wednesday, medical examinations were conducted on Radamel Falcao. It appears that the player has an injury of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

"Surgery is necessary in the coming days. Doctors will thereafter make every effort to allow Radamel Falcao to recover as quickly as possible."

Chasselay president Jocelyn Fontanel announced to 20 Minutes that he has received threats from Colombia over the injury, which was caused by defender Soner Ertek.

"There were two sentences of Spanish abuse, threats and insults," he revealed. "It demanded a lifetime suspension for Soner Ertek. We will not take these messages seriously."

Norona, meanwhile, is set to perform surgery on the damaged left knee of the 27-year-old, who signed a five-year deal with the principality side in the summer, having made a €60 million move from Atletico Madrid.
