“Go and Die” Widow Tells PDP To Go and Die With Their N250k

Following the reactions a comment made by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State to a widow in the state has generated, the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, launched an empowerment programme for widows in the state on Tuesday. However, the widow, who was upbraided by Oshiomhole, Mrs Joy Ifijeh, shunned the event, in which she was expected to attend.

Before Tuesday’s launch, the governor apologised and offered her an automatic job and a N2 million cash. She was also invited to the Government House in Benin City, where she had a tea break with Oshiomhole.

At the PDP’s occasion, the state Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, disclosed that the PDP in Edo State launched the Widows Empowerment Programme because it had received N1 million since it posted the video clip of the governor’s encounter with the widow on the internet, where it went viral.
Orbih described Oshiomhole’s job offer and cash gift as a ‘Greek gift’ that would not wipe the tears of widows in the state.

The N250,000 PDP gift to Ifijeh was received by Mrs Pat Erhabor on her behalf.
